Seoism, or Tomas Seo, is inspiring us all with his logotype project. Not only is it a fun design project to keep up with, where he delivers a new logo every day based on a character in a movie, but also he takes us throught the design process with movie clips and music in a fun way. This is not only a logotype project also it is a social media and planning project, since the briefs are collected via twitter and the project is monitored and analyzed with Google Analytics and different twitter applications, and research is done about the movie character among other things.

Crowd sourcing

För ett par veckor sedan var jag på Hyper Island för ett par dagars utbildning, samtidigt som jag såg Richard Gatarskis experiment om crowd sourcing inför TEDx Stockholm. Jag hade en idé men var osäker på om jag skulle hinna sätta ihop den till ett bidrag, jag fick ett par minuter över och lyckades sätta ihop ett bidrag men det lämnades in ett par minuter för sent till Richard. Uppdragets karaktär var att bidra med en kort film eller presentation för hur barn kan få en bra start i livet. För att citera en vän Torsten Jurell, konstnär, kan alla lära sig måla, det är endast vilja och övning som krävs. För mig är uppmuntran och stöd utan att sätta etiketter som bra eller dåligt på hur de tänker eller gör saker viktigt. Det var bakgrunden till mitt bidrag.

Time for a change

The abilty in handling changes is necessary both professional and private. Professionals talk about change management, in other words a structured approach to change in individuals, teams and organizations and so on. Most people fear change, since the brain has to work out new shortcuts to fast decisions in order to be lazy and save capacity to all every days inputs. This concerns everything in peoples surroundings, from choosing how to get to work to where to shop and what to shop. I came across some adoring pieces of furniture today, designed by Swedish guys living in London, I feel a need for them and I can not stop thinking: is it time for a change with a touch of elegance and chaos in my home? Or will it confuse my shortcuts with new elements? Anyway I adore them.

Boulder i Colorado är hemstaden för en bekant jag känner i Palma. Boulder climbing är en av de roligaste sakerna jag vet. Daddy är duktiga på digitala medier. Nyligen köptes de av CrispinPorter + Bogusky där alla vill jobba. Byrån finns i min gamla hemstad Los Angeles i mina hemkvarter Santa Monica. Svenska Hyper Island där jag nyligen gick en utbildning, är enligt tidningen Egoist tillsammans med CPB och University of Colorado i Boulder inblandad i en ny universitetsutbildning.

I min dröm sammanför jag allt detta och är i Colorado i höst för där finns även Rocky Mountains med bra skidåkning.

mao AC/DC som ikväll spelar i Göteborg, jag är inte där, jag är inte heller en fan av större mått. Intressant är att det är lågkonjunktur och det är utsålt på arenan. Jag skrev ett tidgare inlägg om bandet och dess förmåga att tajma konjunkturer frågan är var vi är idag när bandet är i Sverige? Rock on fast!

Using WOM and Fischbein

Via emarketer.com I found this graph showing that building trust and using WOM is useful, escpecially since the trustworthyness of traditional advertising is sinking all the time. A study from 2008 shows that only 10% consider ads to be worth to trust. Accordingly WOM and finding evangelsist for your brand is more and more important.

Adopting it to reality, digital media have found a great opportunity in the sharing, voting, recommending function built in almost everywhere nowadays. You find something you like and you share it with your friends. Nothing new, but used in a new way.

What you see is actually the old multi-attribution theory or theory of reasoned actions sometimes refered to as Fischbein. Used together with WOM it creates new ways of using relationship and connections escpecially in the digital media.

Look att Amazon.com for instance and how they work with friends sugestions. At amazon you can share links, in other words recommend items to your friends with multiple social media choices. Amazon use a built in system with different reviews such as forums for discussions between customers, others reviews, your own review. Listings what other people bought also intrested in the item. And they have an expert review, escpecially handy for high involvement buying decision, when customers crave a high level of reassurance before the decision, attitudal change and action.

MarkMedia played this tune of Don McLean’s, the other day at Hyper Island lecturing in antropology and digital media. The recession is speeding up the development within the digital industry as traditional media is having major trouble with ROI. I would argue that even sustainabillity finally is a part of the negative trend we are seeing now. Meanwhile thinking about that turn up the loud speaker and sit back.
